Nick’s love for photography started from the age of 10 when he started taking photos of life with a Practika. The creative arts appealed to Nick right through school and when he left college he landed a job in the production department of the Tasmanian Film Corporation. He moved to Melbourne in 1979 and worked with Crawford Productions as a camera assistant.
His return to Tasmania saw him take a variety of ‘life-skills’ jobs throughout the state: as a diesel fitter, fisherman and sales manager.
Nick eventually fulfilled his dream of being able to do what he loved for a living by starting his own photographic design business in 1990 specialising in commercial and food photography and design.
Nick’s work has been seen in many large advertising campaigns and product launches throughout Australia for clients that include Dan Murphy’s, Cascade, Blighs Cider, Woolworths, Big W, Nystar, Tourism Tasmania, Banjo’s, Federal Group, Hobart City Council, Aurora, Hydro, Roaring 40′s, UTAS, Tassal, Petuna Seafoods and more.
His work has also been published in Gourmet Traveller, Fresh, Sunday Life, Epicure, Delicious and many other Newspapers and Magazines.
Nick’s book publishing credits are significant and include From the Sea (2001), Waji’s Black Magic (2008), Tasmania’s Table (2009), Picnics in Paradise (2010), Wild Water and Woodsmoke (2011) and more recently Island Harvest (2012).
